The Chamber plays an important role in economic life and does not merely defend the interests of business sectors. It is also considered the political representative of the clothing industry in all its sectors in economic life, and represents the Arab Republic of Egypt in the International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF).
The ready-made clothing and home furnishings sector is a key component of the Egyptian economy, as it is one of the largest sectors in terms of employment. The sector employs more than 1.5 million workers directly, of whom about 70% are women, and indirectly employs between 1 and 2 million workers. The sector contributes about 3% of GDP, with a value of between 200 and 250 billion pounds annually. The ready-made clothing and home furnishings industry in the local market accounts for 75% to 80% of market demand, and the sector represents about 12% of non-petroleum exports, according to the General Authority for Export and Import Control.
It is one of the industrial chambers that recently joined the Federation of Egyptian Industries and was established by:

3- Following the issuance of Law No. 70 of 2019 regulating the Federation of Egyptian Industries and Industrial Chambers, Ministerial Decree No. 2362 of 2019 was issued establishing the Chamber of Ready-made Garments and Home Furnishings.
The Chamber is one of the bodies that represents the commercial and industrial interests of clothing, furnishings and their accessories in its areas of competence before the public authorities. It therefore plays an important role in economic life and does not merely defend the interests of business sectors.
