Cinema Industry Chamber

The Chamber of Cinema Industry is the first Egyptian entity concerned with preserving film copyrights, protecting film distribution, and verifying film ownership, distribution, and exploitation.

The Chamber of Cinema Industry was established by Ministerial Decree No. 458 of 1947 on 17 September 1947, and published in the Official Gazette No. 89 issued on 25 September 1947. Its purpose is to look after the common interests of establishments permanently established in Egypt that are engaged in the film industry and to represent this industry before the public authorities.

On 15 October 1960, the Minister of Industry issued Decree No. 486 of 1960 establishing the Chamber, However, he changed his mind about its establishment, and on 3 March 1973, Minister of Industry Decree No. 203 of 1972 was issued to establish the Chamber of Cinema Industry, in addition to the other industrial chambers affiliated with the Federation of Egyptian Industries.
